Coming together - 2 years nearly done ! Bedrooms

We put all the gyprock up ourselves it was a long hall especially with high ceilings.  Jurg started with all good intentions the gyprock flushing, however as we can only work after work and weekends we decided it was a good idea to get someone else to tackle it for us.  It did take a bit longer than they said but certainly much shorten then it would have taken us or I should say Jurg !  As Jurg has an aversion to cornices, we don't have any - the wall so look neat but it is a longer process.
Flushing

Much wiser for Jurg to be up the ladder ...
.... and me down here !

Bathrooms

I didn't think we would be people that take 2 years to build our house !
We wont be ..... we will take longer!

I write lots of lists of what is next to do, it is much easier to write then to do !
When I write seal the bathrooms it is simple 3 words.
That bit comes easy there is no real muscle power or stress, no mad dash visits to Bunnings because you need more, there is no bent back, not to mention the grinding off or mini jackhammering of concrete that had powered because we had 7 mm of rain when the concrete was pored (2 years ago), or the box concrete hole for the pea trap and we can't get the wooden box out and have to used a crowbar and large hammer to break it up and pull out in small pieces without getting splinters and then find the waste water pipe that seems to have slightly disappeared in the concrete side wall.
The villaboard has to be flushed, the concrete floor has to have a primer after the concrete was vacuumed of the dust from grinding/jackhammer.

See I do work as well ! Mostly Slave work !

Villaboard finished now with ceiling over shower and bath done.

First line of defense !
Step one is to make everything blue - sealing membrane, as we have the timber walls underneath the villaboard we thought it very wise to have maximum coverage, !

We thought it a good idea that Jurg learn how to tile ! As most of the house is tiled (all except the bedrooms) Jurg had some lessons on the bathroom floors.  The quote to tile the house meant the purchase of the tile cutter was peanuts !

Toilet space in ensuite
Toilet in and connected - just no water.  Vanity in just waiting on the timber top - Jurg needs to make it with the Meranti log he and a dive buddy found floating off Esperance coast. This will happen .... later !!

In, out, in, out - are we done yet, No !

Kids Bathroom
We had to have a slight change of plan as the bath was too long for the space available - oops !
so we cut and extend a section and will have glass tiles which will be a good thing as they will let in some natural light to the vanity section.

Vanity area
Bath side
Room sealed, bath in, floor tiled, ready for final tiling.

Tiles drying after getting wet outside.

Starting on kids shower and bath room

As I said lots of sealant !

Vanity it

Just need water connected.  Ready for more tiling
Watch this space for the finished job !!

Kitchen

We have been planning this kitchen for a while. Jurg's dive buddy Damo from Esperance Cabinets has taken the bullet.

Even drew it on the plastic before concrete - Yellow paint is island bench, red pipes are floor heating.

 First Delivery
Footings going in.

Finally 3D

Ooops - forgot the dam Blue stuff - friend Carolyn gives us help.

Second Delivery

one step.....

We have colour

......at a time.

I'm pretty sure Jurg and Nonno are helping.

Two roller units to hide my 'stuff' !

Watch this space for an update on the island bench. !!!

Light Preparation. Nonno (Jurg's Dad) is slave this time !

We had to make a decision early on in the build - before the flashing went on the roof - as to how many and where the lights would go.  We do not have a roof cavity.  We decided that many lights and all dimable would be wise.

Nope not snow - still that dam foam.

Pantry - LOTS of shelves

Floor done.
